Dear Parents,
In an effort to keep you informed, we are notifying you of an incident in which a student was overheard making comments of a threatening nature towards the school. Upon further investigation, the student reportedly made the comment in a joking manner.
Safety of students and staff is a top priority and threats of any nature are unacceptable and will be investigated fully. The student has been criminally charged and will also be held accountable according to the code of conduct.
Parents, please be aware of and discuss with your child that whenever a threat is posted or stated, infractions typically result in both of the following:
- Students being removed from school for the year, possibly without the option to attend the alternative school
- Misdemeanor or felony charges with either juvenile court or adult court proceedings
Suspicious behavior should always be quickly reported to a school administrator, Columbia County School District Police, or by contacting the CCSD anonymous tip hotline at 706-541-3600. If you see something, say something. Working together, we can continue to provide a positive environment for students and staff.
Sincerely,
Juliet King
Principal
