Facility Improvements
Facilities Update - November 26, 2024
Dear Panther families,
We are excited to bring you the latest updates on our ongoing facility improvements, which include partial completion of on-campus parking areas, the relocation of main entrances to the building, and an adjustment to the car line for student drop-off and pickup areas. As construction moves ahead of schedule, these changes will be in place when students return from Thanksgiving Break.
Parking lot 2, as indicated on the map below, will be closed for construction. Students and staff permitted to park there will be relocated to Lot 3, and updated parking permits will be provided for them.
Construction of Lot 3 will be fully completed in January. Starting in December, permits for Lot 3 will be available for purchase in advance. More information regarding the process for purchasing permits will be provided in the coming weeks.
Student pickup and drop-off will now take place at the back of the school, as indicated by the yellow-lined arrows in the map below. At this time, we will maintain the left turn only to exit the campus. Staff members will be available to assist with directing traffic flow.
Additionally, the school's main front entrances will be relocated to the back due to the construction of the new media center, commons area, and kitchen, which will take up some of Parking Lot 2. Students who are picked up or dropped off during school hours must enter the back of the building as indicated on the map. Students riding the school bus will enter the doors to the left of the original main entrance.
The safety of students and staff is a top priority, so secure access points have been added at each of these entrances. Visitors will be required to buzz in as normal at both of these entry points.
To recap, the following changes will go into effect immediately until further notice:
- Parking Lot 2 closed for construction
- Partial opening of Lot 3, to accommodate the relocation of cars already permitted for Lot 2
- Permits for Lot 3 will be available for purchase starting in December
- New car line for student drop-off and pickup relocated to the back of the building
- Left turn only to exit campus will remain in effect
- Main front entrances closed and relocated
- Secure access is installed at both new entrance locations
Thank you to our staff, students, and families for your continued patience and flexibility amidst these much-needed improvements and renovations to our school.
Facility Improvements - September 5, 2024
September 5, 2024
Dear Panther parents and guardians,
We are continuing to make great progress on the renovations and improvements on our campus and want to bring you the latest update which will include an updated traffic plan.
We are getting closer to completing the new student parking lot in the back of the building along with the new carline which will also wrap around the back of the school. In order to complete the work needed on part of the new road, we will adjust the carline for drop-off and pick-up, Monday, September 9, 2024. The basic flow of traffic will remain the same, but with a different entrance and exit location further down Panther Crossing. We have attached a diagram of the new traffic plan, and appreciate your continued support.
Sincerely,
Juliet King

Dear Panther parents and guardians,
It has been a busy but productive summer for our school as renovations and improvements to our facility continue!
We want to take this opportunity to provide you with some important updates. Crews have renovated 36 classrooms and one of the front parking lots with new bus lanes. Work on our incredible new Performing Arts Center is underway and is taking shape! We anticipate the student parking lot becoming available by the end of the first semester.
To help with transitions during these ongoing renovations, we have made some necessary changes to our traffic plan to help drivers, student walkers, and school buses safely transition while on campus. The new traffic plan will go into effect beginning with Open House on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.
Lakeside Middle School car line traffic and buses will only enter and exit onto Panther Crossing from Blue Ridge Drive. Similarly, Lakeside High School car line traffic will only enter and exit onto Panther Crossing via King Taylor Road. The section of Panther Crossing between the high school right front parking lot and the middle school baseball field will be closed to traffic during student drop-off and pick-up times. Students may be dropped off at both Lakeside Middle and Lakeside High School beginning at 6:45 a.m. Students are always welcome to ride a bus to school, which helps to reduce traffic congestion. They can also go to “Find My Bus Stop” on the district or school website to locate route information.
The two front parking lots at Lakeside High will be permitted only for school staff and visitors. Meanwhile, student parking will be available at Lakeside Park, the Lakeside High School Athletic Complex, and the adjacent lot across from the Lakeside High School Track. Parking permits for student drivers will be required both on campus and at Lakeside Park. Parking applications will be available on the school website beginning Tuesday, July 30, 2024. Like last semester, drivers should observe all traffic laws and parking rules. Parking in these additional lots will be first come, first serve, and no parking fees will be required at this time.
Please familiarize yourself with the diagram that shows the parking and traffic plan. Lakeside High School and Lakeside Middle School staff will be available with directional signage to assist our families while on campus.
We are grateful for your ongoing support and ask that you continue to remain patient as we all work together to adjust to this new process. If you have any questions after reviewing this information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Sincerely,
Your Lakeside High School Admin Team

Dear Panther Parents and Guardians,
Beginning Tuesday, June 18, 2024, all parking lot access to our school campus will be closed off as crews begin work to install the new bus lanes and student parking, as referenced in our last correspondence. The parking lot restrictions will be in place until further notice for the next four weeks, weather permitting.
All parking and student pick-up or drop-off will take place at Lakeside Middle School. Additionally, a designated walking area will be made available from the middle school to our campus.
This work is taking place ahead of schedule and is a diligent effort to minimize the impact on the beginning of the new school year.
As always, we appreciate your patience during this time and always value your concerns. Please feel free to reach out to me directly with questions. We are fully committed to keeping you informed and addressing any issues that may arise throughout the life of this project.

June 10, 2024
Dear Panther Parents and Guardians,
I am thrilled to bring you an update on the ongoing renovations and improvements happening on campus this summer. Construction began early in the second semester of the 2023-24 school year, and work is anticipated to continue for approximately 30 months.
The first phase of our renovation is dedicated to updating several classrooms on the West side of the building, as well as laying the foundation for the new performing arts center. Work also continues on new bus lanes and a student parking lot to better serve our growing population needs. While we can expect to face some temporary inconveniences, the end result will be a new state-of-the-art facility that will significantly enhance the Lakeside High School experience for students of many generations to come.
Your understanding and cooperation during this transformation are much appreciated. We value your questions and concerns. Please feel free to reach out to me directly with questions. We are fully committed to keeping you informed and addressing any issues that may arise throughout the life of this project.
Sincerely,
